Search Rusk Criminal Dockets

A Rusk County criminal docket search starts with the right court, since the charge decides where the case sits. Felonies go on the District Court docket in Rusk County, while misdemeanors, fine-only matters, and city ordinance cases land in the lower courts. The Rusk County criminal court docket can be searched by defendant name, case caption, or the court named on a notice. Confirm any hearing with the clerk before you act on it. A calendar entry only shows a planned event, not a final result, and the clerk holds the official copy.

Rusk Felony Calendar Routes

The Fourth District criminal docket page sorts felony settings by category. Categories include arraignments, grand-jury dates, pretrial or docket-call blocks, and jury trials. Each label serves a different purpose. A grand-jury date is not an arraignment. A pretrial list does not establish that any plea or trial occurred. PDF dates and instructions change, so the live county page must control.

Rusk County groups its criminal settings by category. The county's felony docket page shows the current arraignment schedule. It also posts any updated dates or instructions.

Rusk County criminal docket felony arraignment schedule

The county's labels and calendar structure are useful. Names and identifiers from a live criminal list should never be republished, so confirm the current date and place with the court itself.

Inside a Rusk County Criminal Docket

A criminal docket tracks a case step by step. It can identify a charge, counsel, filing events, settings, and a disposition. The public calendar often reveals far less. Rusk trial and pretrial materials add operational fields such as jury selection, a trial range, readiness notices, waivers, and AM or PM blocks. None of those fields alone proves the result.

Case numberA court-assigned identifier; Rusk formats vary, so no sample format should be assumed.
ChargeThe alleged offense and level shown in the case record, not proof of guilt.
SettingArraignment, pretrial, docket call, bench trial, jury trial, or another event.
Ready or waiverA filing or instruction tied to trial preparation or a non-jury path.
DispositionThe recorded outcome or status, which must be checked against filed orders.

iDocket calls its public product an index of documents filed and case information. That wording matters. An index hit is not the complete file, and neither is a calendar PDF.

Rusk Criminal Setting Terms

Rusk County criminal calendars use short labels. They describe events, not outcomes. Reading them plainly keeps a planned setting from being mistaken for a judgment.

Docket call
A court event used to organize or confirm pending cases before trial.
Arraignment
A criminal event where the charge and next procedural steps are addressed.
PT or pretrial
A preparation and scheduling stage before trial; Rusk files may split it into AM and PM blocks.
Grand jury
A charging body or session listed apart from arraignment and trial calendars.
Ready
A written readiness notation or instruction found in Rusk trial material.

“Trial docket” means the case was placed in a trial setting. It does not show a trial happened. Check later docket entries or the final order for the actual result.

Note: Check any date on an archived PDF against the live court page. Do this before someone travels or misses another setting.

How a Criminal Case Moves

A Rusk County District Court case usually builds across many docket entries. It rarely turns on one decisive line. A filed charge can move through arraignment, pretrial settings, a plea or trial, disposition, and sentencing. Resets may add settings between those points. Written readiness and contested-pretrial notices can appear before a jury setting.

Docket flow: Charge Filed › Arraignment › Pretrial › Plea or Trial › Disposition › Sentencing

Jail defendants and other defendants may be assigned to different blocks. The county criminal page has used a Justice Center morning block and a courtroom afternoon block. Check the current PDF before deciding where to report. Also check the instructions from counsel or the clerk. Logistics from a different docket date will only mislead you.

Rusk Misdemeanor Docket Split

Felony and misdemeanor cases do not share one Rusk County criminal docket. The 4th Judicial District Court handles felony work through the District Clerk. Misdemeanors run through the County Court at Law page. It posts criminal trial, arraignment, short-list, and bench-trial calendar links under the county clerk structure. Municipal and JP courts keep their own fine-only records.

An old County Court at Law misdemeanor PDF may still carry COVID-era instructions. Date the file first. Check the live daily calendar and call the clerk rather than treating old wording as current policy.

Courts That Hold Criminal Dockets

Rusk County runs a split-clerk system. District Clerk Terri Pirtle Willard keeps the District Court criminal records. County Clerk Trudy McGill supports the constitutional County Court and county-level record functions, while County Court at Law handles its own misdemeanor matters within that structure. Five Justice of the Peace courts and each city municipal court hold separate lower-court dockets.

The caption is the best routing clue. “4th Judicial District Court” points to the District Clerk. “County Court at Law” points to the county-level calendar. “JP” plus a precinct number, or a named municipal court, belongs to that office. Once the court is known, run a fuller name or number search through the Rusk County case lookup.

Rusk County Drug Court

The Texas Office of Court Administration's specialty-court registry is dated October 1, 2025. It gives Rusk County Drug Court registry ID 131. It is an Adult Drug Court serving the 4th Judicial District and Rusk County. J. Clay Gossett presides as judge, and Kim Jones serves as coordinator.

A listing here is not a docket search of its own. Participants still have an underlying District Court case. Use the regular District route for a search. Use it to look up the Rusk County court docket. Then ask the clerk or coordinator what public setting information exists. The registry names no separate Rusk veterans, mental-health, or DWI specialty courts. That gap does not rule out future programs.

Sealed Dockets and Public Access

Texas leans toward open judicial records, but the limits are real. Texas Rule of Judicial Administration 12 controls access to judicial records during regular business hours. Exclusions exist. Rule of Civil Procedure 76a presumes court records are open. Sealing remains possible after the required process and findings. Rule 21c sets rules for sensitive data.

Juvenile material is different. Texas Family Code Chapter 58, including Section 58.005, limits access to specified people and agencies. A missing search result does not prove no matter exists.

Put your request in writing. Name the court, the case, and the date range. State the non-confidential product you want. A Texas Public Information Act request will not break a seal or turn litigation discovery into an open-records matter. Rusk County's own guidance points judicial-record requests to Rule 12 and the responsible clerk.

Rusk Criminal Record Proof

Know what you are asking for. A public court setting, an iDocket index entry, a filing image, and a certified docket are different products. The District Clerk charges $5 per name for a record search. Copy and certification fees sit under a separate posted schedule. Confirm the current total before you pay. Electronic delivery works if a plain copy will do. Ask for certification when the clerk's official stamp matters.

No result? Check the spelling, initials, court, date range, and clerk. re:SearchTX adds a signed-in statewide layer where a court is integrated. Criminal coverage varies, though. Local PDFs and direct clerk requests still do the heavy lifting for a Rusk County case lookup. Always confirm a planned hearing with the office that set it.

Note: Keep the source URL and retrieval date with any docket note. Live calendars and posted PDF links can change without notice.
